As the daughter of Pakistani-Muslim immigrants growing up in Texas, Aysha has understood the importance of unapologetically advocating for her community and other marginalized groups from a young age. This mantra has driven her work in civic engagement initiatives and public service to help ensure that the perspectives of minority groups are heard at higher levels. In her current role as Senior Director of Policy & Advocacy, she works on J+J initiatives such as Fixing Democracy and Girls @ The Margin and regularly liaises with federal and state partners for projects and listening sessions that center the experiences of girls and gender-expansive young people.
Prior to joining Justice + Joy, Aysha pursued her passion for advancing gender equity—both locally and abroad—through multilateral organizations, a variety of international development nonprofits and corporations, and the federal government. She earned her MPA from the University of Texas at Dallas and received her J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She splits her time between Toronto and Dallas, TX.
