K-12 EDUCATION: Discipline Disparities for Black Students, Boys, and Students with Disabilities
The Government Accoutnability Office was asked to review the use of discipline in public schools. They interviewed federal and state officials, as well as officials in 5 school districts from 5 states. Their report examines the schools’ disciplinary actions, challenges of student behaviors and how they approached school discipline and the actions of Education and Justice in identifying and addressing disparities or discrimination in school discipline.
