In 2017 and 2018, a youth-led team from Young Women’s Freedom Center (YWFC), interviewed 100 system-involved women and TGNC people using a mixed-methods, life course survey interview. The aim of the project was to create a picture of the lives of San Francisco’s most marginalized communities and to explore how individuals navigate systems such as housing, foster care, and juvenile and adult justice. The result is a collection of rich community-driven data that can inform our collaborations towards addressing the needs of system-involved young people and adults through shifts in policy and programs.
